For the past five years the Mason-Jackson-Roane, AFL-CIO Labor Council has issued a challenge to all union brothers and sisters across the state to wear their union colors, carry their union banners and march proudly in the Ripley WV, 4th of July “grand parade”. This year the participants will also carry placards that state: BRING JOBS HOME – AMERICA WANTS TO WORK and a huge banner will be placed on the side of one of the wagons stating the same.
The “grand parade” is the oldest parade and oldest Independence Day Celebration in West Virginia drawing thousands to take part in the day’s activities.
